As the virus ravaged the city in early 2020, leaving over 1,000 deaths and 6,600 cases in its wake, luthiers were forced to halt operations during lockdowns. The crisis exacerbated an existing market saturation, with around 160 luthiers in Cremona – triple the number from the 1990s.
